The revival of the legendary Chevrolet Camaro oil car occurred in March 2009, when the mass production of the fifth generation of a coupe was started on the GM conveyor in Oshawa. In February 2011 at the Chicago Motor Show was presented the fastest of the road modifications of the oil car – the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with a 6.2-liter power unit.
